The musicians hung their harps from the willows that grew beside the river. They did not break them apart, but the harps had no music left in them for the time being. Someday, our joy will be replayed.

A man begins each day assuming he will be granted another. He trusts that tomorrow will arrive, just as it always has. He tosses a ball into the air; never truly certain he will be there for its return. His accounts accrue interest only to be enjoyed by his inheritors; the bounty from his orchard will be served on another’s plate. How can he not see that today is the only day he truly has? The sun may set today on a life that will not see it rise again.

Dedicate each day to the Lord the moment you arise from your bed. Ask Him for guidance, and He will gladly guide you. Trust Him completely, and watch as He makes your righteousness. Stay calm, and don’t let the prosperity of others bother you. You might be upset because you don’t think they deserve it, but remember that God measures value according to standards beyond the world’s. So, rest in the Lord; wait patiently for Him. Lord, why does this journey seem endless? I’m tired, Father, and my heart hurts. My exhausted body recoils from sleep when I lie down for the night. I can’t look forward to the dawn with any more hope than yesterday. I close my eyes and see my enemies triumph at everything they touch. My journey of faith seems to hit every pothole and speed trap on this highway! So... when are we going to get there?
